Katie Pierce, ED Teacher
I grew up in Spencerville, IN and attended Riverdale Elementary and attended Eastside for 3 years! I am a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School. I then attended IPFW and graduated in 2001 with a degree in Elementary Education and Middle School English. I also have a degree from Indiana University-South Bend in Intense Interventions and my Masters in Special Education from IPFW. I spent time subbing for Ft. Wayne Community schools, and then taught 5th grade in New Haven for 4 years at Central Lutheran School. I also directed the children's 5-8 choir for Emmanuel (New Haven) for 2 years. The choir grew to over 90 students, so it was then broken into 2 choirs, and I directed the 7-8th grade choir for another 2 years. I left teaching once I had my daughter in 2006 and worked as a Director of a child care/preschool/kindergarten. I missed working in the classroom, but was grateful to spend the time with Lillie. As Lil began preschool, I knew I wanted to be back in the classroom! I began subbing for DeKalb Eastern in the fall of 2008. This is my 4th year being back into teaching Full time. I am excited to be teaching in the area that I grew up in!
My husband, Jason and I have been married for 11 years. We have one daughter, Lillian, who is in second grade at Butler. We are expecting our second child, a daughter, in August of 2013. We have an 12 year old Golden Retriever named Hunter and George, a kitty that was adopted for our daughter. I love to spend time with my family, clean, and travel to Mackinac! The kids know that Michigan is my happy place!
April Webb, Paraprofessional
My name is April Webb and I've worked at Butler Elementary School for 7 years in the ED class. I am married and have 2 boys of my own and 3 step-children. I also have 2 beautiful grandchildren. I love to spend time with my family and friends. I am my children's "biggest fan" when they are playing sports. In my spare time, I enjoy riding the motorcycle with my husband. I have been to 35 states on the motorcycle. I also enjoy helping my husband do mechanical work or detailing vehicles. Some of my hobbies are cleaning and cooking. During the summer, I enjoy working out in the yard.
Heath Fuentes, Paraprofessional
My name is Heath Fuentes and I am originally from Butler, Indiana. After attending Butler Elementary and Eastside High School I left Butler and went to college at Vincennes University. After completing a stint at Vincennes University I transferred to Ball State University where I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Communication with an emphasis on Consulting/Organizational Communication. To date I reside within the boundaries of the City of Butler with my wife and five children; four boys and a girl. My dreams/goals in life are to raise my children to the best of my abilities whilst being the best husband I can. In my spare time (which is next to never) I like to play video games and ponder my existence when compared with current theories of the existence of immortal characters as The Highlander. Currently I am employed professionally at Butler Elementary as a Para-Professional with the Fifth and Sixth Grade ED Class.
